In 1988, CalTech started as a software development company in the garage of Bob Calabrese. When several of Calabrese’s employees left he sought out help to strengthen the CalTech brand. Enter Will Welch and Brent McCasland. Will and Brent, business graduates of Angelo State University, opened Outback Computer Service in 1995 with an investment of $600 and two credit cards! They brought along Outback Computer’s loyal customer base, strong financials, and the competitive advantage to give CalTech the boost it needed. The two companies merged in 1998, maintaining the CalTech Brand. In late 1998, Mr. Welch and Mr. McCasland assumed full ownership of the company.
Brent and Will started with the objective of supporting their families and it soon became clear that CalTech was blessed. With that goal accomplished, they felt compelled to expand CalTech to offer that same opportunity to others. Holding true to our mission statement, the goal has always been to provide a stable source of income and support to all CalTech employees and their families while providing exceptional value and service to our clients.

Coleman County State Bank has had an excellent working relationship with CalTech for a number of years. Most recently we engaged CalTech in a Managed IT capacity. While we were hesitant to “turnover” a function of the bank as critical as IT, I can say that it has proven to be a good decision. IT continues to evolve and change, on what feels like a daily basis. I take comfort in knowing we have a highly qualified team in CalTech to ensure we stay on top of this. In turn, this allows us to focus our time on being bankers and serving the needs of our customers in way they expect and deserve.
As always, we're very happy with the service we receive from CalTech. Everyone we have contact with from the Help Desk to Engineers and Account Managers are so professional, and helpful! They all always keep how our business runs in mind when implementing a change.
Texas National Bank had OCC Examiners the last two weeks of September for our regularly scheduled exam. The Information Technology Committee and I wanted to pass on to CalTech, and you especially Mark, how complimentary they were of our Information Technology systems. For a bank our size they were extremely pleased with the security that is in place to protect not only the bank’s integrity, but our customers’ sensitive information.
